My Personal interest ^^

Real joy lies in the food plate! The feeling that a food lover like me gets when I cook and taste good food is pure bliss. My personal interest in cooking is not pure coincidence. It is all thanks to seeing and eating different dishes from childhood that I got interested to explore different cuisines, recipes and styles of cooking.

Growing up eating mom’s food, watching cooking shows on TV and tasting different cuisines in restaurants have always raised my curiosity in knowing the secret recipes behind the taste.

Someone has truly said mom’s food are always the best food in the world. The food dishes that my mom makes always inspire me in knowing more about their specialities and cooking techniques. Whenever my mom cooks or make sweets and savouries with different fillings especially on a special occasion, I always note the recipes and watch her cooking method.

Even on TV, I always watch the cooking shows. One of the first cooking shows that fascinated me in my childhood was Khana Khazana. I was amazed in seeing how some ingredients could turn into an amazing dish.

Born in a multi-cultural family, I also get to relish different plates at different occasions every year. Whether it is ‘Deepavali or Thaipoosam Cavadee’, ‘Eid-al-Fitr’ or 'Easter', it is always wonderful to learn more about the dishes. I always get excited to know how many ingredients are added, how much the preparation time is and how the food tastes. Taking it from Rasgulla to Biryani, the flavour, smell and look have always intrigued me to know more about it and prepare it.

Whenever I try a good dish outside. I always want to learn more about the food. The more I learn about the food, the more I want to experiment it. The more I experiment it, the more connected I feel to food. I may sound like a scientist. But, my kitchen is no less than a laboratory where I make food experiments.  Obviously, there have been times where it has gone wrong. But, with practice, Eureka! I do come with good results.

This encourages me to look for new recipes and cooking techniques in blogs, YouTube or on Google and try it.

Pursuing my interest in cooking by sharing cooking videos in the Mauritian way, various recipes and food encounters will be a step to spread the love of food everywhere.
